Sit Smart

Description

Sit Smart is a study desk reservation system which allows students to reserve a study space per their environment preferences. It consists of two core components: the Sit Smart website and the Raspberry-Pi-powered Desk Kit. Students can select a desk on the website based on its sound level, temperature or air quality, all of which are monitored by the Desk Kit using IOT sensors. Placing a booking provides the student with a unique pin code, which they tap into the Desk Kit monitor on arrival to check-in. If the environment changes thereafter, Sit Smart provides the student the option to check out of their current desk and check into another available one

I was the Team Lead of the project alongside my secondary roles of UX Designer, Scrum Master and Frontend Programmer. My leadership responsibilities were as follows:

• Managed a team of fellow students in the development of a smart hot desking application

• Applied an agile workflow including weekly scrum meetings, sprints and burndown charts

• Motivated the team, provided support and monitored performance

• Managed team deadlines amidst multiple projects, prioritized tasks and resolved conflicts

• Surveyed target users for qualitative insight and data to inform project development

• Coordinated technical presentations and compiled project reports
